A Flash mob is short and seems to be a spontaneous crowd of people on public places. Normally participants do not know each other personally. These Flash mobs were organized through online communities, webblogs, news groups and E-mail chain letters. Those are mostly special actions of virtual or online-communities who utilize communication media such as mobile phones or Internet to organize collective actions including a deep meaning.
I recently watched the Jacko – Flash mob in Stockholm on YouTube and found it is really fun to see it. As all participants are doing the same moves to the old “Beat it” – song on this huge square in the middle of people who are unaware and at the same time baffled.
Just fantabulous!!!
This tribute to Michael conveys a meaning and shows that people loving the unforgettable songs of the “King of Pop”.
Watching it was great and can affect somebody emotional due to the power of the entire crowd.
Love it!!
hey Miss!
I’d like to leave a comment on your blog entry though it’s already a few weeks ago.
me too had a lot fun watching all that flash mobs dedicating to MJ. me loves the “stop”-flash mobs too when everybody stands still for a few minutes. actually thatz the first flash mob I have seen on tv. did you know there was one in May, I guess, in Duesseldorf? wanted to go there by myself. well, it was planned but I dont know if it was really done. guess, I should check that out.
anyway besides these “harmless” flash mobs there are those mobs which actually increase a high amount of cost for the city/government. there was this stupid anonuncing on studivz … you may remember. http://tiny.cc/U0tHA the government even thought of a prohibition which … well, in my opinion, was kinda overreacting. but actually I can understand them. don’t get me wrong I like flash mobs too. but people should better think about such requests for flash mobs. I am not even quite sure who is even dumber … the one who is calling for “short-thinking” flash mobs or the ones who are attending them without thinking about the following circumstances …
Hey Kat,
I think you meant this freeze-flashmob at Duesseldorf Arcaden on May 9: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBw7Z_Au4po
And did you already hear about that one at NY Central Station: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwMj3PJDxuo (also really good!!)
And now to your 2nd paragraph. I totally understand your point of view concerning following consequences of flashmobs especially when they are ill-judged by their organizers, but I think it depends on the type and location of the flashmob. A dance tribute to MJ in Stockholm is something really different as a flashmob party at Sylt.
